At one time, there was a Father and Mother in the house. Unfortunately that scenario has moved on. “The Good Old Days” In general, both parents work. It is easier to grab some fast food, take it home and feed the family. No taking turns doing dishes- tada-dishwasher.
I made sure all 3 of my son’s could cook, sew on a but on and do laundry. Diid the same with our 1 daughter. Check fluids on her car. Changes fuses, change batteries,and handle herself in all types of situations.
My solution? That is up to the parents.
