We are at a crossroads in this nation.
One road we could take is an objective application of the rule of law. No exceptions, no one above the law, no one too big to jail. High crimes and misdemeanors definitely included, no matter who or what the perp.
I see about 0% chance of that happening.
Last Tuesday, 6/6/2018, on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” former House Speaker Newt Gingrich weighed in on President Donald Trump’s efforts to contain the so-called deep state.
Gingrich observed that with all the revelations regarding the Justice Department bureaucracy’s involvement in the 2016 presidential election that the system was “much more deeply corrupt” than previously thought; “And I think that we have to recognize that the system is much more deeply corrupt than any of us could imagine. That as it is gradually coming out in the open, we realize the elements of the Justice Department at the larger level, elements of the FBI, were corrupted on a scale that is really a threat to the whole American system and the whole rule of law.”
If we do not do it judicially, eventually plain ordinary people will get tired of watching the double standard play out over and over and all hell will break loose.
When you have Judges going against written law and creating their own in order to solve political needs, we are in trouble. Then when they get elected they will begin to pass laws that are incompatible with the Constitution, but are allowed to be enforced the the same Judges, then we are in more trouble. See California for such an example.
I expect a certain amount of corruption in government because by nature power corrupts. I think the level of corruption in our government will probably knock our socks off when/if reveled.
We have passed the crossroads to allow for such a choice. What you are seeing is the crossroads in your rear view mirror.
