Battered Justice?

Should we replace her with the court of public opinion? The court of the talking head panel of experts? Should we place additional weights on the scales to compensate for past wrongs of “privilege” or “prejudice?

battered justice

For all the recent talk about facts versus “fake news,” telling the truth, and recapturing the public’s trust in the era of President Trump, some of our most important media blew it when it mattered most. Worse still, some demonstrated an immediate willingness to trade this industry’s already badly battered reputation for a political victory.

We are now at the unsuccessful conclusion of a four-week-long effort by certain media organizations to prove Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh is a violent sexual predator and a lying alcoholic. The reckless and grossly irresponsible scramble by the New Yorker, NBC News, the New York Times, and others to make Kavanaugh into a monster produced some of the worst journalism of the Trump era to date – and that’s a pretty high bar.

Journalists make mistakes, of course. But had all of the sloppy and often unethical reporting on Kavanaugh been the product of mere negligence or human error, the law of averages suggests that some of the errors would have been in his favor. None of them were. From great to small, they all tried to prove Kavanaugh unfit to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court. It would be hard to blame a viewer or reader who concluded that these newsrooms acted not as the gatekeepers of truth, but as willing agents in the Democratic Party’s 11th-hour effort to destroy the judge’s good name, along with his chances of becoming the swing vote on the Supreme Court.

In this matter, the Rule of Law has been our dispassionate arbiter of justice.

She is depicted as blindfolded, with a sword in one hand and scales in another. She is blindfolded to accept parties who come before her with impartiality and without bias. We are equal before her.

The sword represents her authority and the force of government at her side. The scales represent the deliberative process that weighs the solid, verifiable evidence brought before her of the guilt of the accused of wrong doing. The scales must tip further to one side or another to establish guilt in a civil matter between parties. It evidence must show guilt beyond a reasonable doubt in establishing a crime.

This is America’s icon of justice. To the degree we accept her as the arbiter of disputes and the decisions she reaches, we are in civil society together.

When large portions of society no longer agree to abide with her outcomes, and “resist” her system, we are simply no longer in civil society together with them.

When our Supreme Court Justices are no longer pillars that support her, we crumble.

Sure, she has flaws – she may be peeking or allowing a thumb to be placed on the scales or the sword to be brandished too heavily. We must always work together to correct that.

Should we replace her with the court of public opinion? The court of the talking head panel of experts? Should we place additional weights on the scales to compensate for past wrongs of “privilege” or “prejudice? Should we give extra credence to the weight of alleged survived victimhood?

As a person who believes that blind justice is “the best we got,” I will not agree to appease her resistors or to substitute Sharia or other international forms of justice in her stead. It is fundamentally not acceptable to me.

The Storm is coming

A people who no longer recognize sin and evil, are not a people who will recognize tyranny and despotism either.

storm

Leftist politicians openly calling for violence and anarchy.

Hillary Clinton’s statement last Tuesday that Democrats “cannot be civil” as long as Republicans hold the White House and Congress.

Portland police stand by as AntiFa thugs attack a senior-citizen motorist then later refer to them as “pedestrians” and ask them to come forth to testify against the motorist.

Paid “protestors” disrupt senate hearings, confront and assault lawmakers and harass government officials with no official government response.

There you have it — a declaration of war and a license for violence. Where is the media outrage?

Looking out my window here in the Ozarks, I can see the storm clouds are gathering, and they are not pretty.  There is a storm brewing and it is not named Michael.

The judges are to investigate carefully. If they find that the witness is lying and has given false testimony against his brother, you are to do to him what he intended to do to his brother. In this way, you will put an end to such wickedness among you.

A blue wave?

Senate Democrats, manipulating parliamentary procedure and making spectacular and unsubstantiated charges for political gain, with the active and avid cooperation of many of their friends and fans in the press

Blue wave

One of the longstanding rules of life is that nothing is free in politics; there is some question when you pay the price.

The Democrats are now paying the price of their shameless promotion of lies and cynical and unprincipled changes in the rules for short-term gain.

The question still remains, whether voters will also make the party pay. Until recently, the intensity of the Democratic voter base was measurably greater than that of the Republicans heading toward the midterm elections. Now the gap has closed.

I can’t think of a more embarrassing scandal for the United States Senate since the McCarthy hearings,” said Texas Republican John Cornyn as Judge Brett Kavanaugh testified before the Judiciary Committee on the afternoon of Sept. 27, “when the question was, ‘Have you no sense of decency?'”

Senate Democrats, manipulating parliamentary procedure and making spectacular and unsubstantiated charges for political gain, with the active and avid cooperation of many of their friends and fans in the press, have been doing this throughout the confirmation process for the Supreme Court nomination of Kavanaugh. They have, in truth, been doing it for decades now. Character assassination has become their weapon of choice.

Conservative talk show hosts such as Rush Limbaugh warned Republicans that voters would destroy them if they failed to confirm Kavanaugh. It’s an issue that has stoked political passions. If Democrats don’t get the blue wave election they have been hoping for and believing in, they will know at least one reason why.

Maxine Waters ethics complaint

Her call for mobs of leftists to harass and protest members of a Republican administration in public have been taken by many as an incitement toward violence, given the heated rhetoric and intense nature of the current political divide.

Maxine Waters

Judicial Watch filed  an ethics complaint against Rep. Maxine Waters for “inciting violence and assaults on the Trump Cabinet.

The group sent a hand-delivered letter to the chairman and co-chairman of the House Office of Congressional Ethics calling for an investigation into whether the California Democrat violated House ethics rules by encouraging violence against Trump Cabinet members.

Ms. Waters made her remarks  during a rally in Los Angeles, during which she entreated participants to “push back” on Trump staffers in public places such as restaurants or gas stations.

“In encouraging individuals to create ‘crowds’ who will ‘push back’ on President Trump’s Cabinet members at private business establishments and in seemingly trying to prevent these Cabinet officials from obtaining basic necessities without fear of assault and violence, Rep. Waters seems to be violation of House rules.

The complaint specifically cited House Rule 23, clause which requires lawmakers and others within the House to behave ‘in a manner that shall reflect creditably on the House.

Pretty much everyone has heard the audio or seen the video of Democrat California Rep. Maxine Waters not-so-subtly encouraging potentially violent mob action against members of President Donald Trump’s administration.

Her call for mobs of leftists to harass and protest members of a Republican administration in public have been taken by many as an incitement toward violence, given the heated rhetoric and intense nature of the current political divide.

“If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them! And you tell them that they are not welcome, anymore, anywhere,” Waters had yelled with great vitriol to a crowd of boisterous supporters.

Ethics committee? Ethics investigation??

Congress and Ethics have become mutually exclusive terms. Congress has no ethics (as shown during the last several weeks), has no decency, no shame, no morals, and certainly no ethics.

They are ALL whores who stand on the corner with their hands out, pimps who sell our constituents down the river daily, and liars who have lost all concept of the truth.

Why can’t a woman be more like a man?

Look at the SJWs of today’s world and see how they operate. That’s what it would look like, writ large across the entire planet. They attack anyone outside the group who doesn’t comply with their demands, and if someone inside the group says a single word out of line according to the ever-shifting standards the entire group turns on them without mercy.

Feinstein confronts Collins

The recent social battle over the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court has circled around “Women’s rights”, the “Me Too” movement and the overbearing boorishness of males.

There’s a persistent trope in science fiction and fantasy about a society consisting solely of women.
It’s a peaceful and prosperous society, free from all violence. There may be some female warriors, who are somehow better than all male warriors everywhere despite having no real pressure or battles to harden themselves on.

I am begging the media and authors to stop doing this. Every female over the age of seven knows that a planet full of only women would not be peaceful.

Allow me to explain the matter for anyone confused as to what this situation would actually look like.

Female social structure is completely different from male social structure. Men tend to organize in a hierarchy of sorts. There’s one guy at the top, a few guys he trusts underneath him, etc. downward until you reach the guys that are on the bottom of the pile. The structure makes sense. It’s efficient, everyone knows who’s in charge, and it’s largely based around the individual. Someone can rise or fall in this hierarchy based on any number of things, but their position is usually pretty clear from the outside looking in.

Female social structure is more fluid. It’s based more on group identity than on individual characteristics. You tend to have one woman who is kind of in charge, your queen bee as it were. Those in her favor circle around her, and the circles continue outward until you have the women who are not part of the group. They aren’t at the bottom of the pile, they pretty much don’t exist. At least, if they’re lucky they don’t. One’s position in the social hierarchy can change at any time, to include who the queen bee is. Remember the scene in Mean Girls where Regina tries to sit at the lunch table with the other plastics but isn’t wearing the right color clothes? She was just knocked out of her position in the social hierarchy.

In a social structure like this, there’s no room for difference of opinion or people who stand out too much. If an individual, even by noncompliance, threatens the group identity; she will gain the ire of the entire group. They will hunt her without mercy until she complies with the demands of the group, is removed from their reach by either death or physical distance (which is getting much harder with the internet), or manages to win enough females to her side to either form a new group around her or replace the existing leader. The last option allows her to push her standard on the group as a whole. There is no option to live and let live. In other words, female social structure is closer to the Borg than the complex world we currently enjoy.

I can already hear the cries of, “But women aren’t violent!” If you’re talking about direct violence, you’re mostly right. Women are not men, and they don’t hunt in the way that men do.

Their weapons are usually words and emotions, not direct violence. Instead of a brawl in which two people fight it out and determine which is the strongest, you’re looking at extreme emotional abuse for anyone who is outside the group and unlucky enough to have their attention. Emotional abuse attacks a person in the most deeply personal of ways, and the scars it creates are more damaging than the physical scars of a beating. We wonder why girls who stand out grow so bitter, but if you’re a little too pretty or a little too different, other girls swarm on you and rip you apart with constant emotional abuse. They attack who you are at the base of your being, your very self-perception. This is why you see truly beautiful women who struggle to see their worth. Other girls have been ripping into them since the nursery, and it only gets worse as they get older. Boys court them and try in their awkward boyish way to get your attention, but you’re mostly convinced that it’s a cruel joke they’re playing on you, because of course you aren’t pretty or smart or special. The scars run deep and never fully heal.

However, physical violence is not out of the question either. Female genital mutilation is a very physical violence that is inflicted on women, mostly by other women. It is not unique to or even required by Islam, the religion we think of most on this issue. It’s tradition, and women will inflict this on their daughters and granddaughters quietly in dirty back rooms with rusty and unsterilized razor blades if the society they live in declare it to be illegal. If enough women decide to mob on some unfortunate outside their group, they may well turn physically violent and the beating will not stop once the point is made. It will stop when the target of their wrath is dead or nearly dead. Women don’t really have much of an “off switch” when they move into physical violence out of anger.

So what would a world made up totally of women really be like? It would be tyrannical beyond belief. No one would be willing to speak against the accepted narrative unless they were willing to be unpersoned or killed. Think of a mix between 1984, the very worst social aspects of socialist regimes, and the Borg. There would be constant pushing for position, usually by starting whisper campaigns or setting someone above oneself up to be badly embarrassed.

The only way to get back in their good graces is to loudly proclaim your “sin” and accept their abuse until they get bored of you. Even afterward, you’ll forever be “tainted” with the sin of noncompliance.

Women aren’t soft, cuddly pacifists. They just aren’t. Kipling was completely right about the female of the species being the more dangerous sex.
He was also right about the price of letting women control society. “If any thinking individualist finds themselves in a society run by women, may God have mercy on their souls because those women will have none at all.”

in a handbasket

Something, sooner or later has got to give. Our society, most likely sooner than later, will reach the tipping point. That is not only unfortunate. It is dangerous.

Hell in a handbasket

A US Senator is discovered to have had a Chinese communist spy as her driver for 20 years. The security of the country is damaged. Nothing happens to the senator.

A member of Congress calls for violence against supporters of the President of the United States. Physical violence against persons and damage of property ensues. Nothing happens to the congress person.

Ranking members of the Department of Justice involve themselves in a conspiracy to derail the candidacy of a Presidential contender and after he is elected continue their seditious behavior in an attempt at a soft coup. No charges are filed and no legal actions are taken.

Paid anarchist thugs invade the halls of the US Capitol building feloniously threatening elected officials verbally and in some cases physically. No charges are filed and no actions are taken.

Elected officials involved in hearings regarding a Supreme Court nominee to determine if accusations of sexual assault are valid knowingly hold those accusations until the last minute and then insist that it is incumbent on the accused to prove innocence.

As a political culture, we are drowning in false courage. For all the exposure and exhibitionism that social media has allowed for, it has also has created a cesspool of anonymity — and what is anonymity if not a social face mask and sweeping enabler of false courage?

You can say pretty much anything you want these days with very little risk of shame or consequences. If you are a member of a protected group you can cause pain and damage to a persons’ property, name or reputation and suffer nothing in the way of punishment.

It is that entitlement mentality and sense of empowerment that allows louts to get away with this style. It is the sense of superiority and disrespect for “the little people” that allows the “Media” to  construct their own face masks by virtue of whatever quotient of shamelessness they can abide in themselves — which would seem to be a lot and increasing. When you keep shocking people, it becomes harder to shock the next time. And you lose capacity for shame. People become less easily outraged by the media encouraging the barbarians shattering of taboos, and the modern social vandals become emboldened to go further next time.

Something, sooner or later has got to give. Our society, most likely sooner than later, will reach the tipping point. That is not only unfortunate. It is dangerous.

For they sow the wind,
so they will reap the whirlwind.
The standing grain has no ears,
so it will yield no flour;
and if it does yield any,
foreigners will swallow it up.

-Hosea 8:7

Be careful what you ask for.

Red October?

We’ll be facing tough potential opponents. One only has to look at the Severodvinsk, Russia’s version of a [nuclear guided missile submarine] (SSGN). I am so impressed with this ship that I had Carderock build a model from unclassified data.” Johnson said during the Naval Submarine League’s 2014 symposium in Falls Church, Va .

Red October sub

Just what, not why…

Russia’s second Severodvinsk-class submarine K-561 Kazan , which is a modified Project 08851 Yasen-M design, went to sea for the first time for builder’s trials on September 24.

The massive nuclear-powered guided missile submarine (SSGN) was designed by the Malachite design bureau in St. Petersburg and was built in the northern Russian city of Severodvinsk. Kazan was launched on April 8, 2027, and was originally expected to be delivered to the Russian Navy this December, but construction work on the vessel was delayed. At present, Kazan is not expected to be delivered to the Russian Northern Fleet until at least 2019. Nonetheless, the Russian vessel is expected to be the most formidable enemy submarine the United States Navy has ever faced.

The United States Navy was already impressed with the original Severodvinsk, which is an older design that had been under construction since 1993 before eventually being commissioned into service in December 2013. Shortly thereafter in 2014, Rear Adm. Dave Johnson, who was then Naval Sea Systems Command’s (NAVSEA) program executive officer (PEO), told me he was so impressed with the Russian submarine that he had a model of Severodvinsk built for display outside of his office.

“We’ll be facing tough potential opponents. “The rest of the world’s undersea capability never stands still.”

Later in 2016, Rear Adm. Michael Jabaley, who was then the Navy’s program executive officer for submarines—speaking at the Center for Strategic and International Studies— said on July 8, 2016, that the Navy launched its Acoustic Superiority Program to improve the performance of Virginia-class attack submarine as a response to the advent of the Severodvinsk-class.

A Prayer for Saturday, Oct 6, 2018

He brought me up from the roaring pit,
up from the muddy ooze,
and set my feet on a rock,
making my footing firm.

Prayer

I waited patiently for the Lord,
till he turned toward me and heard my cry.

He brought me up from the roaring pit,
up from the muddy ooze,
and set my feet on a rock,
making my footing firm.

He put a new song in my mouth,
a song of praise to our God.
Many will look on in awe
and put their trust in the Lord.

How blessed the man who trusts in the Lord
and does not look to the arrogant
or to those who rely on things that are false.

Psalm 40-1
