Those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Ewing General Order 11

53 YEARS AGO TODAY — AUGUST 25, 1863 — ORDER NO. 11 IS ISSUED IN MISSOURI

General Order No. 11 is the title of a Union Army directive issued during the American Civil War forcing the evacuation of rural areas in four counties in western Missouri. The order, issued by Union General Thomas Ewing, Jr., affected all rural residents regardless of their allegiance. Those who could prove their loyalty to the Union were permitted to stay in the affected area, but had to leave their farms and move to communities near military outposts. Those who could not do so had to vacate the area altogether.

While intended to deprive pro-Confederate guerrillas of material support from the rural countryside, the severity of the Order’s provisions and the nature of its enforcement alienated vast numbers of civilians, and ultimately led to conditions in which guerrillas were given greater support and access to supplies than before. It was repealed in January 1864, as a new general took command of Union forces in the region.

Order No. 11 was issued four days after the August 21 Lawrence Massacre, a retaliatory killing of men and boys led by Confederate bushwhacker leader William Quantrill. The Union Army believed Quantrill’s guerrillas drew their support from the rural population of four Missouri counties on the Kansas border, south of the Missouri River.

The following is the text of Order No. 11

General Order № 11.

Headquarters District of the Border,
Kansas City, August 25, 1863.

1. All persons living in Jackson, Cass, and Bates counties, Missouri, and in that part of Vernon included in this district, except those living within one mile of the limits of Independence, Hickman’s Mills, Pleasant Hill, and Harrisonville, and except those in that part of Kaw Township, Jackson County, north of Brush Creek and west of Big Blue, are hereby ordered to remove from their present places of residence within fifteen days from the date hereof.

Those who within that time establish their loyalty to the satisfaction of the commanding officer of the military station near their present place of residence will receive from him a certificate stating the fact of their loyalty, and the names of the witnesses by whom it can be shown. All who receive such certificates will be permitted to remove to any military station in this district, or to any part of the State of Kansas, except the counties of the eastern border of the State. All others shall remove out of the district. Officers commanding companies and detachments serving in the counties named will see that this paragraph is promptly obeyed.

2. All grain and hay in the field or under shelter, in the district from which inhabitants are required to remove, within reach of military stations after the 9th day of September next, will be taken to such stations and turned over to the proper officers there and report of the amount so turned over made to district headquarters, specifying the names of all loyal owners and amount of such product taken from them. All grain and hay found in such district after the 9th day of September next, not convenient to such stations, will be destroyed.

3. The provisions of General Order No. 10 from these headquarters will be at once vigorously executed by officers commanding in the parts of the district and at the station not subject to the operations of paragraph 1 of this order, and especially the towns of Independence, Westport and Kansas City.

4. Paragraph 3, General Order No. 10 is revoked as to all who have borne arms against the Government in the district since the 20th day of August, 1863.

By order of Brigadier General Ewing.
H. Hannahs, Adjt.-Gen’l.

Ewing ordered his troops not to engage in looting or other depredations, but he was ultimately unable to control them. Most were Kansas volunteers, who regarded all Missourians as “rebels” to be punished, even though many residents of the four counties named in Ewing’s orders were pro-Union or neutralist in sentiment. Animals and farm property were stolen or destroyed; houses, barns and outbuildings were burned to the ground.

Some civilians were even summarily executed—a few as old as seventy years of age. Ewing’s four counties became a devastated “no man’s land,” with only charred chimneys and burnt stubble showing where homes and thriving communities had once stood, earning the sobriquet “The Burnt District.” There are very few remaining antebellum homes in this area due to the Order.

The painting Order No. 11, by artist George Caleb Bingham, showed the destruction of the Missouri border counties by Kansas Jayhawkers.

Col. Charles Jennison is shown holstering his weapon after shooting down a Missouri civilian in cold blood. Numerous farms are burning in the background. Atop the horse to Jennison’s rear-left is General Thomas Ewing, commander of Union troops, the instigator of this destruction. After the war, Ewing ran for governor of Ohio and Bingham visited Ohio, took his painting with him, which is quite large, and campaigned against him. Ewing was defeated. I saw an original of this painting (two copies exist) at the Truman Library and Museum in Independence, Missouri.

It was painted on a table cloth, and you could see the design of the tablecloth through the paint. This painting gives you only an inkling of the devastation done to Missourians during the Civil War. This sort of carnage had been going on in some areas since 1858, nearly ignored by Yankee historians who still operate virulently in the history books.

Former guerrilla Frank James, a participant in the Lawrence, Kansas raid, is said to have commented: “This is a picture that talks.”

It’s ALIVE!

Newspeak is no longer an omniscient tele-screen spewing forth obvious propaganda from “Big Brother” admonishing that you are being watched. Today, it is the blue glow of a cellphone screen, or a tablet or an “X-Box” or a laptop directing your buying behavior and your child-rearing decisions and your “vote” for “leaders”.

000000000fakenews

At some point over the past decade, Facebook stopped being a mostly harmless social network filled with baby photos and became one of the most powerful forces in media—with more than 2 billion users every month and a growing lock on the ad revenue that used to underpin most of the media industry. When it comes to threats to journalism, in other words, Facebook qualifies as one, whether it wants to admit it or not.

Facebook’s relationship with the media has been a classic Faustian bargain: News outlets want to reach those 2 billion users, so they put as much of their content as they can on the network. Some of them are favored by the company’s all-powerful (and completely mysterious) algorithm, giving them access to a wider audience to pitch for subscriptions or the pennies worth of ad revenue they receive from the platform.
“Facebook is a threat not necessarily because it’s evil but because it does what it does very well, which is to target people for advertisers,” says Martin Nisenholtz, former head of digital strategy at The New York Times. Martin Nisenholtz is wrong, Facebook is a threat BECAUSE it has concentrated so much power into the hands of a select few by using the personal information of it’s users to generate not only cash, but also to modify, and in many cases, drive behavior.

It’s about control. Not only the control over what advertisements will be presented to users or the number of impressions that they are bombarded with; it is about nudging, pushing, directing and ultimately controlling the “choices” made. Choices of everything from breakfast cereals to soap flakes to elected officials.

1984 is no longer just a work of fiction warning of the possibilities of a dystopian future. George Orwell’s book has become a “how-to” manual where we have willingly allowed our history, our freedoms and our very lives to be chucked down the “memory hole”.

The memory hole

Frankenmice

Because it would not be able to create its “humanized mice” without fresh tissue taken from aborted babies, the FDA also has an interest in the continuation of legalized abortions

Humanized Mouse graphic 1

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration signed a new contract on July 25 to acquire “fresh” human fetal tissue to transplant into “humanized mice” so that these mice will have a functioning “human immune system,” according to information published by the FDA and the General Services Administration.

“The objective is to acquire Tissue for Humanized Mice,” said a June 13 FDA “presolicitation notice” for the contract.

The contractor, the notice said, would “provide the human fetal tissue needed to continue the ongoing research being led by FDA.

“Fresh human tissues are required,” said the notice, “for implantation into severely immune-compromised mice to create chimeric animals that have a human immune system.”

According to GSA’s federal contract database, Advanced Bioscience Resources (ABR), a non-profit organization based in the San Francisco Bay Area, was awarded this $15,900 contract, which will run through July 25, 2019.

“Fetal tissue used in research is obtained from elective abortions,” says the Congressional Research Service.

In 2016, Harvard University provided the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives with a background paper explaining that mice with human immune systems “are engineered to this condition only by means of the use of human fetal material” and that this material can only come from aborted babies not from miscarriages.

Thus, by issuing a contract to acquire human fetal tissue to use in making mice with human immune systems, the FDA is using federal tax dollars to create a demand for human body parts that must be taken from babies who are aborted.

Because it would not be able to create its “humanized mice” without fresh tissue taken from aborted babies, the FDA also has an interest in the continuation of legalized abortions at a stage in fetal development when the tissue needed to create these mice can be retrieved from the aborted baby.

In fiscal 2018, the NIH—which is a separate entity from the FDA but also a part of the Department of Health and Human Services–estimates it will spend $103 million on human fetal tissue research. In fiscal 2017, it spent $98 million.

On Sept. 14, 2017, the House of Representatives passed an omnibus appropriations bill that included language pushed by Rep. Martha Roby (R.-Ala.) and other pro-life House members that would have prohibited federal funding of research that uses tissue from aborted babies. This language, however, was not included in any of the spending bills that ultimately passed the Senate and were signed into law for fiscal 2018.

Big Brother and Newspeak

Mozilla has joined the dark side. They’re jumping in bed with pure evil, pushing an “Information Trust Initiative” that would block independent media sources at the browser level

mind control

Reblogged from Natural News

Mozilla / Firefox goes all in for EVIL… pushes corporate news collusion to silence independent media

Remember the day you found out Google was steeped in pure evil? So you sought out a different browser to escape the evil overlords that run Chrome.

Many of us sought out Firefox from Mozilla, an organization with a strong history supporting free speech and open access to information.

But now Mozilla has joined the dark side. They’re jumping in bed with pure evil, pushing an “Information Trust Initiative” that would block independent media sources at the browser level while favoring corporate media giants like CNN, a cesspool of deliberately fake news.

Surprised? You shouldn’t be. The Mozilla Foundation also pushed for so-called “net neutrality,” a total sham agenda that the tech giants was crucial to make sure you would never be blocked from the information sources you wanted to visit. But today, it’s abundantly clear that tech giants simply de-platform anyone they want, instantly blocking that channel from all users, all while making a mockery of their “net neutrality” plea.

So which browsers are better alternatives? There are at least two good ones to check out right now:

BRAVE – Run by a pro-freedom group that supports small, independent publishers (and even has a mechanism for micropayments).

Vivaldi – Run by a small, independent group with no ties to deep state funding or the NSA.

It’s time to dump Firefox. Like all the other tech giants, Mozilla is going to abuse and exploit its position of market dominance to control what you read, watch and hear. That’s pure evil, and it’s the kind of evil we’ve all now come to expect from Google, YouTube, Twitter and Facebook. Now you can add Mozilla to that list.

A history lesson

People keep yelling, “You can’t change history.” Sadly you can.

Lee memorial removal

Your history lesson for the day.

Robert E Lee was married to George Washington’s granddaughter. He worked with Grant during the Mexican-American war and became a decorated war hero defending this country.

He believed slavery was a great evil and his wife broke the law by teaching slaves to read and write.

After the wa between the states he worked with Andrew Johnson’s program of reconstruction. He became very popular with the northern states and the Barracks at West Point were named in his honor in 1962.

He was a great man who served this country his entire life in some form or other. His memorial is now being called a blight.

No American military veteran should be treated as such. People keep yelling, “You can’t change history.” Sadly you can. This is no better than book burning. ISIS tried rewriting history by destroying historical artifacts. Is that really who we want to emulate?

As they tear down this “blight” keep these few historical facts in your mind.

Lee was torn about the prospect of the South leaving the Union. His wife’s grandfather George Washington was a huge influence on him. He believed that ultimately, states rights trumped the federal government and chose to lead the Southern army.

His estate, Arlington, near Washington DC was his home and while away fighting the war, the federal government demanded that Lee himself pay his taxes in person. He sent his wife but the money was not accepted from a woman. When he could not pay the taxes, the government began burying dead Union soldiers on his land. The government is still burying people there today. It is now called Arlington National Cemetery.

WILL THE P.C. POLICE WANT TO TEAR THAT UP ALSO ??

Those who fail to learn from history…

…some of us have lived long enough not to expect everything great, good and excellent, from so imperfect creature as man

learned from history 01

I try to base my observations on historical basis and reason, (as best as I can muster it).

I have come to fear for our Republic, (not because of any one particular politician but because of what I see as a coordinated effort to divide and, ultimately, destroy the Founder’s experiment by many quislings and demagogues).

To quote a forgotten voice of our Revolution, Mercy Otis Warren; “…some of us have lived long enough not to expect everything great, good and excellent, from so imperfect creature as man… my own optics, (eyes), will never again be deceived by the false glossary of pretended statesmen and superficial politicians, therefore I shall not be disappointed…”

We have, indeed, lost that proud tradition of Roman origin that links “rights” with responsibilities. The Rule of Law is one of the ideals of our political morality that currently is being looked upon as archaic and no longer in force. Substantive ideals like a presumption of liberty and respect for private property rights along with all of the other features of our legal bedrock, the Constitution are out of vogue and honored only in their absence.

John Adams, in a letter to Horatio Gates said; “In politics the middle way is none at all.”

The “pretended statesmen and superficial politicians”, whether is be useful idiot RINOs or demagogic Democrats, have effectively destroyed the rule of law. The barbarians have breached the gates and the citadel has fallen.

“The jaws of power are always open to devour, and her arm is always stretched out, if possible, to destroy the freedom of thinking, speaking, and writing.”
– John Adams, A Dissertation on the Canon and Feudal Law.

A Prayer for Saturday, August 18th 2018

The LORD is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear?

Prayer

The LORD is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked advance against me to devour me,it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall.Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear;though war break out against me,even then I will be confident.

Aloe vera is one of the oldest known herbal medicine that can be traced back in ancient Egypt. Aloe vera plant was depicted on stone carvings and in Eber’s papyrus in 16th Century BC, found in burial grounds of deceased pharaohs.

Aloe vera was historically used to heal wounds and treat various skin conditions, Aloe was also taken orally as a laxative. Nowadays, aloe extract is still popularly used as a home remedy for skin problems such as psoriasis, burns, sunburns, insect bites and others. Aloe vera can be found in many skin products such as lotions, gels and sunblocks. Other folkloric uses include treatment of arthritis, asthma, diabetes, epilepsy and osteoarthritis.

Aloe Vera is widely used as traditional herbal medicine in China, Japan, Russia, South Africa, the United States, Jamaica, Latin America and India. It is frequently cited as being used in herbal medicine for its anti-inflammatory, regenerative, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal and healing properties.

Aloe Vera is traditionally used to treat the following skin conditions

  • skin burns,
  • scalds,
  • scrapes,
  • sunburn
  • wounds
  • psoriasis and others

Aloe Vera juice or the fleshy leaf is applied directly to the affected skin, providing relief and believed to improve healing.

treatment of hair related problems

  • Dandruff,
  • Thinning and falling hair,
  • Baldness.

Fresh Aloe Vera juice or sap are massaged to the affected scalp and let it stay for a few minutes before washing.

Aloe Vera, Herbal Medicine For Conjunctivitis, Stomachic, Hemorrhoids and Diabetes

  • Aloe Vera is used in conjunctivitis, Aloe leaf juice is applied to the outer eyelid
  • In small doses, Aloe Vera is considered stomachic tonic; in large doses, as purgative.
  • For hemorrhoids, Aloe Vera cuticle from its leaves is used as suppository for hemorrhoids
  • In some Ariabian regions, Aloe Vera is used to treat diabetes.

Aloe vera has several active constituents and most of them have therapeutic implications for disease prevention and treatment through the modulation of various biological and genetic activities. The possible mechanisms of actions of Aloe vera are described as follows:

  1. Aloe vera has aloe emodin (AE), aloin (barbaloin), anthracene, and emodin found to be relevant to cancer prevention owing to the activation and inactivation of molecular pathways associated with them.
  2. Aloe vera  function as an antioxidant through free radical and superoxide radical-scavenging activities and anti-inflammatory activities via inhibition of prostaglandin E2 production from arachidonic acid and also inhibition of various transcription factors and the activities of enzymes including lypoxygenase and cyclooxygenase.
  3. Aloe vera shows antimicrobial activity by rupturing bacterial cell walls. Earlier studies have reported the anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties of Aloe vera gel.

Aloe vera are widely cultivated and generally grown in pots. It can be bought it from your local garden supply or florist and from time to time at home depot shops as ornamental plant. Aloe vera is also widely used as ingredient in cosmetic and herbal preparations.

Aloe vera leaves contain a clear gel that is often used as a topical ointment. The green part of the Aloe leaf that surrounds the gel can be used to produce a juice or a dried substance (called latex) that is taken by mouth.

Warnings and side effects:

  • Use of topical aloe vera is not associated with significant side effects.
  • A 2-year National Toxicology Program (NTP) study on oral consumption of non-decolorized whole leaf extract of aloe vera found clear evidence of carcinogenic activity in male and female rats, based on tumors of the large intestine. According to the NTP, from what is known right now there is nothing that would lead them to believe that these findings are not relevant to humans. However, more information, including how individuals use different types of aloe vera products, is needed to determine the potential risks to humans.
  • Abdominal cramps and diarrhea have been reported with oral use of aloe vera.
  • Diarrhea, caused by the laxative effect of oral aloe vera, can decrease the absorption of many drugs.
  • People with diabetes who use glucose-lowering medication should be cautious if also taking aloe vera by mouth because preliminary studies suggest aloe may lower blood glucose levels.
  • There have been a few case reports of acute hepatitis from aloe vera taken orally. However, the evidence is not definitive.

Taraxacum officinale – Dandelions

You can use dandelion roots fresh for cooking and medicine, or preserve them for later use. For long term storage, drying works best.

Native Americans tell that the plants, animals and humans were created to exist in harmony, freely giving of themselves to the better of the whole. When humans started multiplying, we started to take advantage of the plant and animal. The animals were angry and decided that if we did not give thanks for the flesh that they took from the animals, we would be cursed with disease. The plants decided to have compassion for humans, even as we killed them, trampled them, and took advantage of their offerings. The plants decided to create a cure for each disease that the animals created, to give us a chance to learn how to coexist with them once again.

If not for its association as a weed, the dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) is among the most beautiful and robust wild flowers. The hearty dandelion plant is ubiquitous, yet very few people know of its power as a healing plant. From roots to blossom, every part of the plant contains healing properties.

The Dandelion is a bald or lightly fuzzy plant that grows up to 20 inches high. It forms a strong, turnip-like root with black / brown external coloration, and a milky-white interior. The leaves are arranged in a basic rosette, elongated and serrated. The stem does not carry leaves and is hollow on the inside. The bright yellow blossoms have a tongue-shape and are combined into a scaly flower head. The fruit resembles a spindle with a shield-shaped flying apparatus (pappus). The whole plant contains a white milky juice.

Thanks in part to its bitter flavor profile, dandelion is used as a tincture, tea, or extract to combat obesity and high cholesterol. By improving metabolism and through efficient blood cleansing and detoxification, dandelion is thought to contribute to relieving gout, rheumatism, liver and bile ailments, blood ailments, ulcers, skin, and other symptoms of aging. Here it is recommended as a detoxifying agent in the context of a spring cleanse or fall cure.

The Dandelion is not only used to treat existing symptoms, but also to preserve good health and prevent illnesses. Dandelion is an excellent source of vitamins and minerals. Specifically, when eaten raw in a salad, dandelion contributes about 40 times the vitamin A found in lettuce. It has 9 times the vitamin C, 4 times the vitamin E, 8 times the amount of calcium, 4 times the magnesium, 3 times the amount of iron, and 2 times the protein as found in ordinary lettuce.

All parts of the dandelion are useful for food. Today we will concentrate on the roots.

Harvest dandelion roots from late fall through early spring, when the plant is dormant and has stored up energy in the root.  For medicinal use, most sources say fall harvest is best. This is because the levels of inulin (insoluble fiber) are higher and the fructose levels are lower.

The freezing of winter converts the inulin to fructose, which makes spring roots more palatable for eating. Spring roots are less bitter and chewy – just make sure you dig them before the plants start to blossom. Spring roots are also higher in taraxacin, which stimulates bile production.

To dig roots, use a dandelion digger or a sturdy fork. You want to break/damage the root as little as possible so you don’t lose much sap, which is where the medicinal properties lie. Deep, rich soil will produce the thickest, easiest to harvest roots.

Make sure to harvest from areas that have not been sprayed/treated with anything noxious. Select large, vigorous plants – small, spindly plants will have small roots that are not really worth harvesting.

You can use dandelion roots fresh for cooking and medicine, or preserve them for later use. For long term storage, drying works best. Scrub roots well before cutting. Slice thick roots lengthwise into strips of uniform thickness to decrease drying time and encourage uniform drying.

Use a dehydrator to dry the roots at 95°F  (35°C) until brittle. Alternatively, spread on a screen and place in a cool, dry location with good air flow, and dry for 3 to 14 days (until brittle). Dried roots will keep for about a year.

To extract the medicinal compounds from the roots, use a decoction or tincture. Decoctions are water based, while tinctures are generally alcohol based. *Note: Do not use dandelion root if you have irritable stomach or bowel, or if you have an acute inflammation.

Make Dandelion Coffee

To make dandelion coffee, start with dried roots. Chop or break into small, even pieces, roughly 1/4″ across. Spread on a roasting pan and bake in a warm oven (200°F, 93°C) for around 4 hours. Stir occasionally. The dandelion roots should be browned and dried completely through. Cool completely. Grind and use as you would regular coffee, or place 1 heaping teaspoon of ground root in a cup of water, steep for 10 minutes and strain. Store in an airtight glass jar and grind just before use for best flavor.
